With the clocks going back this weekend and the nights drawing in, now is the time to seek out a cosy pub for a relaxed Saturday afternoon. The King’s Arms on the Beach of Fulham Road, launched last week under the direction of London pub stalwart Geronimo Inns. It’s a long standing listed local landmark and in its newly renovated interior boasts an impressive range of small sharing plates and dishes, plus a great selection of local ales and wines.
The food menu is based on retro British classics as well as lots of bar snacks, and is mainly in keeping with Geronimo Inns’ traditional approach, which is to create affordable food that is simply constructed and effectively delivered.
Designed by Clare Sibun and Jo Clevely, The King’s Arms is painted a warm grey, with bright colours introduced through the fabrics on the furniture and cushions. A beautiful long antique red-buttoned leather banquette runs the length of the main room with another cosy banquette in the rear area.
Perhaps the most fun of all is in the ladies’ bathroom where, inspired by the pub’s name, the wallpaper has a fun twist on a regal theme… The King’s Arms has a capacity of 60.
Ed Turner, Commercial Director at Geronimo Inns, says: “The King’s Arms is one of those pubs that we’ve always had our eye on, and had used quite a lot in our distant youth! It’s a little beauty right in our heartland and gives our friends another place to pop in for a drink or bite to eat when they are in the area for some of the great restaurants, cinema or shops. We’re going to have a lot of fun here.”
