This year's Fulham Firework display is in doubt and Hammersmith and Fulham Council want your view on whether it is hosted at Hurlingham Park. The Fulham Firework display usually takes place at Bishops Park but due to maintenance work it needs a new venue this year. Hurlingham Park has been mooted as the alternative venue for Fulham.
However, The Hurlingham District Residents' Association and Hurlingham and Fulham Rugby Club have voiced concerns over the damage it will do to the grass after recent investment. They fear that the investment and hard work will go to waste.
The other display, held in Ravenscourt Park, Hammersmith on 5 November, will go ahead as planned.
Hammersmith and Fulham councillor Greg Smith said: “Our two firework displays are amongst the highlights of the year for tens of thousands of local residents and we would very much want to take into consideration the views of our residents in reaching a decision about whether to hold a Fireworks event in Hurlingham Park this year."
He acknowledged the Rugby Club and residents' concerns, stating that the council "will work with all stakeholders to protect this Park if residents give the go ahead."
Residents can voice their opinions in an online poll, so get yourself heard whether if you're for or against the firework displays at Hurlingham Park. The poll will be open until 10 October which will eventually lead to the council's decision. In 2012, Fulham Fireworks will return to Bishops Park as normal.
